Leading provider of web-based business management software, Intelliflo has created a new information tool for advisers focused on building business with Generation X (aged 30-50 years) clients.

The paper, entitled The X Factor and Why You Need It, details how this generation differs from their Baby Boomer (aged 50-68) parents and highlights how an estimated inheritance pot in excess of £4 trillion will transform their fortunes in the medium to long-term.

With the FCA reporting that there are 20 per cent fewer advisers operating post-RDR, opportunities exist for advisers with robust businesses to grow their client bases.

However, Intelliflo warns that focusing too much on the lucrative Baby Boomers without building strategies for attracting Generation X, could back-fire in terms of long-term success.

Dave Chessell, Intelliflo’s Commercial Director says, “Much has been published about the differences between the Baby Boomer and Generation X groups and it’s clear to see that new strategies are required if advisers are to engage with this group”.

He continues: “Looking at the current financial status of Generation X, it may be easy for advisers to think there’s little to be gained by spending the time and effort to engage with this group but we believe this is short-sighted.

“A significant amount of the wealth gained by the Baby Boomers, particularly in terms of property value, will be inherited by Generation X and they’ll need savvy financial help to manage these windfalls. Those advisers who plan to attract this group now will be best placed to benefit from this business in the future.”
